Muscat Sohar - Muscat,
along the coastal highway passes through extensive plantations of dates, mangoes, limes, bananas, vegetables and
fodder crops. Our destination is the Sohar Fort, built around the 1st
century
AD, which is one of the major landmarks of this city. Built on a hilltop
this fort
has five impressive towers and is the only Omani fort that is
whitewashed.
Excursion to Wadi Heebi - the village of Heebi is a collection of
ancient
dwellings with an untouched rustic look - the village of Al Ghudafary,
which is
fed by an old falaj supplying gardens yielding dates and papayas, Overnight: Sheraton |

the fish market at the Corniche, proceeding to Oman Museum and Natural History Museum, which has some excellent collections of the oldtimes, 1600 hrs drive to the walled city

sell the traditional Omani articles like the Khanjars, Dallah (Bronze Coffee Pot), the exotic spices, the Frankincense etc. On the way we will have a photostop at the Al Alam Palace, the Royal Residence of
His
Majesty
Sultan Qaboos. Al Alam Palace is surrounded by the Mirani and Jalali Forts
built in the 16th
